Ghanaians react as Government spent GH 34.8 million on pasco for SHS students

The government of Ghana has reportedly spent GHc34.8 million on WASSCE past questions (pasco) for Senior High School (SHS) students across the country.

According to the Minister of Education, Yaw Osei Adutwum, the ministry procured 446,954 sets of Past Questions at a Unit Price of GHc78.

Speaking to Parliament, the Minister said the Unit Price represents a 32% increase over the 2020 Unit Price of GHc59.

The ministry also reportedly received 416,060 Scientific Mathematical Instruments to the tune of GHS 31,204,500.00.

Mr Adutwum told Parliament that the pasco are to help SHS students prepare for the 2021 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). He added that the books were procured from the Messr Kingdom Books and Stationery and funded by the Free SHS account.

The conversation on Pasco and WASSCE is trending on social media as Ghanaians query the minister about the content of the past questions and even if that would guarantee a pass in the examinations.
