I chose Ghana over Manchester City when they wanted me badly- Asamoah Gyan reveals

The former captain of the Ghana National Team, the Black Stars of Ghana, Asamoah Gyan, has revealed he was more loyal to Ghana than any other country in the world since he is a nationalist.

According to him, he could have played for many other teams in the world while ignoring Ghana but he decided to focus on national assignments even when other expensive football clubs were searching for his dedicated services for their teams but rejected their offers because he loves Ghana over everything he does as a great sign of his commitment to the nation.

With 51 goals, the 37 years old gentleman became his nation’s best-time and leading goals scorer while spending ten and half years in the national team of Ghana with excellent services rendered to the Country of his birth. With 109 appearances for various competitions both national and international levels, he is the second most capped player.

“I constantly claim to be a staunch patriot.” Gyan stated on YouTube that, at the time, Sheik Mansour had just purchased Man City and they wanted to sign me.

“However, my priority was the national team. The national team was my top priority. That is why I get hurt sometimes.

He spoke candidly about his passion for the country and the reason why he chose Ghana over Manchester City when they needed him badly in 2008 and he confirmed that everything is about loyalty and dedication since you are committed to someone or something else, your mind is really connected to that thing and whatever some people might do to influence you will not work unless you are not committed to that person or the thing.

But since we will choose Ghana first over everything he does, it is because of his loyal and dedicated services to the nation instead of working for another country while leaving Ghana behind the scenes.

He indicated that he was even very young at the time when Manchester City approached him with juicy contracts so that he could play easily for the Manchester City team in 2008 but he refused since he loves his country Ghana and still he does love the country despite anything that transpired between him and the football management body or anyone else.

He gladly stated that certain individuals are thinking he is not patriotic enough to be the captain of the national team, The Ghana Black Stars when it was his turn to assume the role as the skipper of the national team for both national and international duties and he indubitably demonstrated to everyone that he loves Ghana and he would do everything to prove that to Ghanaian people and that was exactly what he did.

Asamoah Gyan, who was all over the lips of many Ghanaians including sporting journalists after he declared his intentions to play for the Ghana Black Stars once again in the just-ended world cup, was mocked and ridiculed for his declaration to play again for the national team whilst many people do not know the level of his patriotism and commitment to the country and national duties as a whole.
