‘Born ones’ struggle to marry because men don’t want them - Joselyn Dumas

Ghanaian Tv personality and Actress, Joselyn Dumas, recently opened up to confess about the challenging times many single mothers go through in their quest for a life partner to settle down with as a result of their children.

According to her, most single mothers have struggled over the years to get a man who is willing to marry them, because of societal biases on the ‘Born one’ concept.

On a recent podcast shared by her, dubbed, “keeping it real with Joselyn Dumas, the Actress voiced out the demeanor of a male friend of her’s who declined marrying a particular girl he was going out with just because he discovered she had a child.

According to Joselyn, her friend by name Anthony clearly stated in these words, “it’s not my way to be with a ‘Born one’ or ‘Born two.’ B1 or B2? No, I am not in for such.” And upon hearing this from Anthony, I almost concluded on it as the more reason many single mothers are still not settled in marriage.

“When I probed to know more from Anthony the reason for his stands”, Joselyn recounted, Anthony hurriedly replies, “how am I supposed to raise someone’s child for him when he is there. That is not my bloodline and does not carry my DNA. Why then must I be bothered about that when my own children are there to be taken care of.”

Joselyn who is a single parent herself asserted that, this erroneous impression of her friend, Anthony, is a clear indication of how a larger majority of men today  are not willing to have anything to do with single mothers in regards to relationship and marriage.

She however concluded by admonishing all men, that, for the sake of God they should try to change this perception of mind and begin to embrace our single mothers, in as much as they equally have something valuable to offer on the marriage table. And if they can embrace the single mothers with love, they will also be ready to accept the kids wholeheartedly as their own.
