Paul Mooney, the legendary American comic and entertainer, has passed on at 79 years old, his rep Cassandra Williams disclosed to The Hollywood Reporter.
According to his family, Mooney kicked the bucket at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday morning at his home in Oakland, California. The paramedics attempted fruitlessly to resuscitate him after he endured a coronary failure, as TMZ reports.
Paul Mooney, conceived Paul Gladney, was a comedian, author, social pundit, TV and film entertainer. He is most popular as an author for comedian Richard Pryor, playing vocalist Sam Cooke in The Buddy Holly Story, Junebug in Bamboozled, and his appearances on Chappelle’s Show.
Mooney, who’s been out of the public eye for a couple of years, had likewise supposedly been experiencing dementia for quite a while and was remaining with a relative, the tattle outlet reports.
Celebrities have since the news broke taken to their social media platforms to commiserate with his family.
