Michael Owusu Addo, better known as Sarkodie, is a rapper and songwriter from Ghana. He has said that he has over 800 songs that haven’t been released yet.
He clarified that many of these were recorded while he was making “Sarkology,” his third studio album.
The album, which features hits like “Special Someone,” which features Burna Boy and the late AKA, “Down on One,” “Pon D Ting,” “Bounce,” and “Devil In Me,” was put together by the rapper throughout 30 songs.
I recorded too much during that time. I knew for myself that that music would never come out if I stopped it. I still have nearly 800 unreleased songs from that point forward,” he stated to the host, Kojo Manuel.
Sarkodie stated in an interview with YFM that the songs are in various stages of completion; some are finished, and others only have a single verse and chorus.
“I was the only person recording several songs at the time. Because I record a lot, I just had to put them out there. Now, my pace is a little sluggish, but back then, I was just trying to make songs,” he continued.
One of the most well-known rappers in West Africa, the Ghanaian rapper entered the music industry in the early 2000s. He has won more than 80 awards and has been nominated for more than 150.
His most well-known songs include “Adonai,” “Anadwo,” “You Go Kill,” and “The Year Of Return.”
