The authority of the Senior Staff Association of Universities of Ghana has indicated that it will set out on a strike on May 18, 2021.
The affiliation clarified that the choice follows the government’s inability to address the worries of its individuals after they canceled a comparable activity earlier this year.
The planned strike returns on the back of the government’s failure to pay the tier-2 pension arrears, market premiums and non-basic allowances, among others, of the members of the association.
Speaking on Citi News as monitored by ghbuzznews.com,n, the National Chairman for the Senior Staff Association of Universities of Ghana, Zakaria Mohammed, said their individuals will set out their apparatuses on the said date, adding that they will guarantee that no skeletal staff are gotten to work after their strike.
“We will set out on the strike on the eighteenth of May 2021. We have presented a letter to the Labor Commission as needed by the work laws to give them seven working days notice. The public authority has not respected the mandates of the Labor Commission. This one will be a disturbed strike on the grounds that the keep going time we took to the streets, resigned staff were placed in the essential workplaces. This time around, we will ensure that no skeletal staff will be placed in head workplaces,” he said.
In February 2021, the Association proclaimed a strike over similar concerns yet had to suspend it after the National Labor Commission got an interlocutory order from the High Court, Labor Division, against them.
