The flag bearer for the opposition, National Democratic Congress(NDC), John Dramani Mahama, extended his campaign tour, dubbed ‘Building Ghana Tour’ to the Abossey Okai spare parts dealers, in the Ablekuma Central Constituency — this event occured on Monday, March 11, 2024.
The Abossey Okai main street market was occupied to the max with thousands of people, even though the speech delivery was meant for only the spare part dealing leaders.
Former president, John Mahama, was greeted warmly with cheers from the crowd, spare parts dealers and residents of of Abossey Okai, during his arrival at the market.
He urged dealers not to believe in the judgements of the ruling National Patriotic Party(NPP), and challenged them to begin implementing all the promises they have made ahead of the 2024 elections.
“What I am saying is that, if someone from government promises you that he will implement flat rate, what you have to tell him is that, “Do it now!”. Why must you wait till you are re-elected?
These statements got a lot of applause from the spectators gathered around the Abossey Okai spare parts zone.
“If you will cancel E-levy, do it now. If you will implement flat rate, do it now; if you are going to remove Emissions Tax, do it now. Start everything you say you will do us, so that we will know that you are fit to work on them, when you come into office.”
Mahama’s ‘Building Ghana Tour’ seems to be a yardstick to measure how much the NDC is eager to work for the better of Ghana, when giving a chance at the soon-to-be 2024 presidential elections.
