It was a sorrowful mystery for the people of the Ahafo Region to come to terms with as they learned of the sudden demise of eight people who got involved in a vehicular accident.
The eight people were in the vehicle traveling from Kwapong in the Asunafo South District of the Ahafo Region of Ghana when the sad incident occurred.
It was not immediately discovered as to what exactly instigated the accident but it is believed that the driver of the vehicle with which they were journeying, was in top gear as the car veered off the road causing the death of the eight innocent people who were not even aware of what was transpiring until the driver completely lost total control of the vehicle.
Some people attributed the accident to the poor nature of the road network in the district blaming the government and the district officers squarely for not reshaping and rehabilitating the roads in the district so that they could receive a facelift to help eliminate the carnage on our roads.
There is mourning and weeping in the families of those who fell as victims of the unpleasant event where some could not be controlled due to the severity of the pains and traumatic experiences they are encountering as a result of the loss of their relatives to such obnoxious scenes which could not restore the cause of damages to their hearts.
The police motor traffic and transport department officers have been detailed onto the site of the unexpected accident to access and evaluate the extent of damage caused and to unravel the actual cause of the accident which could not be prevented to help save the lives of those who were embarking on their journey before suddenly, they joined their ancestors in that horrible incident.
Prevention is always better than cure and if it is the deplorable nature of the road that is causing accidents to the people and many travelers on the streets of Kwapong in the Asunafo south district of the Ahafo Region of Ghana, why should the authorities in the district wait lackadaisical for sad moments to greet them because they wake up from their slumber? It is only in Ghana when an incident of this monumental stature unfolds, it is at that very premise you will see those who call themselves leaders or political authorities, professing knee-jerk methods to help solve the situation while the damage caused is not going to be brought back to normalcy either in the short term or in the long run.
The district officers are quick to chase market women in the area for the fulfillment of their tax obligations which they are paying lawfully alright but nothing is being done to assist in rehabilitating or mending the portions of the roads that have either caved in or peeled off from the other adjoining ones.
