A shocking tale of workplace norms and societal expectations has recently been brought to light by a courageous Twitter user known as @empressdaisy_.
In her post, she recounts how she took the bold decision to quit her job as a waitress in a Lekki Phase 1 club after being forced to wear a mini skirt and high heels. To her dismay, she discovered that these “requirements” were mandatory for female staff to adhere to during work hours.
When she queried this, the manager shockingly stated that it was meant to please the customers when they bent over! Furthermore, @empressdaisy_ revealed that the pay for her job was a meager 20k.
Not surprisingly, she took a stand and refused to return to such an exploitative working environment after her first night. Her story highlights the need for greater awareness and proactive measures to curb such gross violation of female workers’ rights.
