The former Ghanaian football Captain of the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan reportedly claims that, he would have resorted to Music or Law as a profession if he had been unsuccessful in the football career.
In an earlier discussion on 3FM with a presenter, the former Sunderland and Udinese striker was asked, “which other profession would you have considered venturing if you hadn’t become a successful footballer?” He replied, “a musician, because I have the passion for singing, and a lawyer, because you never win against me when it comes to arguments. I always found a way for winery.
The thirty eight (38) year old Football legend who doubles as a musician said, he could have become a great Lawyer too if he had made the efforts to pursue it. But as far as he is concerned, that wasn’t his primary goal because he found peace in football, and somehow music, and is successful at them.
Again, he was also asked if he considers going into the law school when he retires from his football career. And this he replied, “Maybe. I don’t have much to say, but in life we never say never. For now we are focusing on the All-Regional games and working hard to change the face of the general sports fraternity, so that the coming generations will benefit.
He then went on to disclose his official resignation from the football career since June 2023, after rendering a selfless service to the sports fraternity through a period of over two decades. He retired as Ghana’s all time scorer with fifty one (51) goals, as well as Ghana’s second most prominent CAF player with 109 appearances.
Meanwhile, in a shocking revelation, the top striker preposterously rejected and excluded the current national Black Stars Captain, Andre Ayew from his all-time Black Stars XI. But this is the man who featured in seven AFCON games, and two FIFA World Cups, where he played with different caliber of players from different countries following his international debut in 2023
In an interview with Angel Tv, Asamoah Gyan mentions Richard Kingston as his preferred goalkeeper, with John Paintsil and Hans Adu Sarpei as his best full backs. He also selected the former Bayern Munich legend, Samuel Osei Kuffour and John Mensah as his best center-back pair, and placing Micheal Essien and X-captain Stephen Appiah in the mid-fielder positions.
He also preferred Sulley Muntari over Ghana’s most CAFed player, Andre Ayew as his left winger, and Yaw Preko as right winger. The mastro, Abedi Ayew Pele being his best No. 10.
In conclusion he enlisted himself as the lone forwarder to complete his all-time Black Stars XI, to the denial of some legendary players from the 1980s through the 90s. Some of these notable players he left out in his list includes the likes of Osei Kofi, Ibrahim Sunday, Baba Yara, Mohammed Polo, and Abdul Razak. etc.
