The bank client , named as Erika de Souza Vieira Nunes, was recorded on camera as she wheeled a deceased man into the bank premises.
The footage captured Erika referring to the man as her ‘uncle’, and urging him to hold a pen and sign some finance documents pertaining to a loan request of $3,400.
“Uncle, are you listening? You need to sign this loan permit. If you don’t sign, there’s no way, because I can’t sign for you. Sign, so you don’t give me any more headaches, I can’t take it any longer” — Erika Nunes pleaded in the video , while forcing a pen into the man’s limp fingers, telling him to hold it “hard”.
When one of the workers in the bank showed concern about how limp and pale the person in the wheelchair looked, Erika said her uncle is a quiet person.
But this did not stop them from calling the police, who came swiftly arrested Nunes.
It was revealed, afterwards, that the pale figure was a 68 year-old Paulo Roberto Braga, who had been dead for a couple of hours before being ushered into the bank.
“She tried to pretend to get him to sign the loan. He already arrived dead before coming to the bank.” — Police Chief Fábio Luiz.
Other police officials said they will look into the whole loan issue, determine whether Nunes is really related to Braga, and find out whether there are other accomplices involved.
If found guilty, Nunes could face charges of fraud or embezzlement and abuse of corpse.
