The Atwima Mponua district in the Ashanti Region of Ghana was shaken by the tragic news of Yaw Asare’s sudden death on his cocoa farm.

Yaw Asare alias Yaw Akuapem, believed to be in his 50s, reportedly took his own life, leaving his loved ones and neighbors in shock.

The circumstances surrounding his untimely death remain unclear, with conflicting reports emerging about why he took this drastic action. Onua FM’s Emmanuel Sowah interviewed the deceased’s wife, Mary Gyasiwaa, who recounted her final moments with her husband before he left to harvest some foodstuff with his gun.

Minutes after his departure, she heard a loud gunshot and initially thought it was just the sound of hunting in the area. Then, the children went to investigate and found their father’s lifeless body lying on the ground.
