Adamawa police have confined a woman and her beau for supposedly killing their newborn child and unloading the body in a dumpster on July 8, in Yola.
Favoring Ben and Luka Iliyasu, the suspects, were accepted to have been together for quite some time before the young lady became pregnant.
As per SP Suleiman Yahaya-Nguroje, representative of the Police Order, “Gift was placed in a family way by her beau, Luka an occupant of Police dormitory Yola, following two years of romance”.
On Tuesday, he informed correspondents in Yola that Gift, who lives in the Jambutu area of Yola North Neighborhood Government locale, had denied killing the child, claiming that it was conceived rashly.
“I had a safe and peaceful delivery but the baby was lifeless hence my decision to dump it in the dustbin.
When I discovered that it was a stillbirth, I kept the corpse for two days before I dumped it in the dustbin and even my aunt whom I have been living with did not know that I was pregnant for nine months,” she told newsmen.
As per a police official, the suspects will be charged in court after the examination is finished.
