A male Level 200 student from Kumasi’s Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) died after falling from a high building.
The now-deceased student is said to have attempted to jump from the balcony of his room on the third floor of the Ultimate Hostel at Bomso in Kumasi, but he reportedly fell because he slipped and fell.
Sources at the school say that the tragic incident occurred last Friday and brought a lot of people, mostly students, to the accident site.
The student’s body has since been placed in a mortuary for preservation and an autopsy, and it is believed to be a Level 200 Industrial Arts student.
In his hostel room on the third floor of the Ultimate Hostel (Old Evandy, Bomso), a student (name withheld) was reportedly engaged in an illegal activity on that fateful day.
According to reports, some of the students shared information about the illegal activity with the hostel’s security guards, who rushed to arrest him.
According to the sources, when he heard knocks on his door, the now-deceased student tried to jump from his room balcony to another balcony to avoid arrest, but he slipped and fell to his death.
When the student fell from the building, he was still. He was eventually rushed to a hospital for treatment, but upon arrival, he was pronounced dead.
The alarming case was brought to the attention of the police, who sent some officers to the location to conduct an investigation. Since then, the case has been the subject of police inquiries.
According to other reports, the police have invited some of the students who were in the room with the deceased prior to the fall to assist in the investigation.
